Record 7.6m people waiting for hospital treatment in EnglandRead More
The number of people waiting for routine hospital treatment has hit an all-time high. Recent data from NHS England reveals that 7.6 million people were waiting to start treatment by the end of June, a small jump from the 7.5 million in May.
This surge in waiting times is seriously concerning, marking the highest count ever since they started keeping tabs back in August 2007. Despite efforts to tackle the issue, many people are finding themselves stuck waiting for the medical care they need.
Out of those waiting, over 383,000 people had been waiting for over a year by the end of June 2023 and over 7,100 people have been waiting for more than a year and a half.
Don’t get caught in NHS waiting lists - Apply NowPeople choose private health insurance for a variety of reasons. It could be that you’re starting a family and want the best care for your children. Or you just want to know that you’ll get quick access to healthcare when you need it. Alternatively, for those in later life, there’s the reassurance of speedy diagnosis, advanced treatments, as well as being given priority for knee and hip replacements. What’s more, you’ll get your own en-suite room during any recovery stay.
So, when’s the best time to compare your private healthcare options? Right now. Most medical plans exclude pre-existing conditions, which means you should consider the merits of private care when you’re healthy. And if you then need treatment for illness or injury, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that it’ll be available without the need to queue. There’s no obligation to take out a policy when you get a quote, but it’s always wise to know your options.
